Jo-Ellan Dimitrius Jury Consultant, Trial Consultant and Author
Dr. Jo-Ellan Dimitrius is President of Dimitrius & Associates, LLC, a full service trial consulting firm based in Pasadena, California, consulting in cases throughout the United States, including the recent Casey Anthony trial.
Jo-Ellan Dimitrius received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975 from Scripps College in Claremont, California; her Masters in 1977 from Clarement Graduate School; and her PhD. in 1984 from Claremont Graduate School, where her doctoral dissertation was The Representative Jury:Fact or Fallacy. The course of study leading to her doctorate was wide ranging—from psychology to sociology to criminology to government. When asked to describe what she learned in graduate school, she’s fond of saying—“I learned about people and about life.”
Dr. Dimitrius has evaluated over 10,000 jurors, witnesses, lawyers and even judges during trial, and at least that many more in pretrial focus groups and mock trials. Her astonishing ability to understand and predict the behavior of jurors, witnesses, lawyers and judges led to her being nicknamed “The Seer” by the American Lawyer magazine.
She has extensive media credits including print, radio, and television. She is a current member of AFTRA, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. She co-authored a book titled, “Reading People” in 1998. Her current book, “Put Your Best Foot Forward” was released in February 2001. She was the body language expert for the third season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”
