Dr. Elliot Engel creates an exhuberant world of literature with his lively presentations. He returns to Trumbull Town Hall this season to share his knowledge of “Queen Victoria and the Victorian Novel.”
Engel earned his BA at Indiana University and his MA and PhD as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at UCLA, where he won the University’s Outstanding Teacher Award. Dr. Engel now resides in Raleigh, NC, where he has taught courses at the University of North Carolina, and Duke University. He is currently at North Carolina State University.
He has received North Carolina’s Adult Education Award, North Carolina State’s Distinguished Outreach Professorship and the Victorian Society Award of Merit.
His books have been published by MacMillan Press of London and Garland Press of New York, and his articles have appeared in numerous journals, including the My Turn column in Newsweek. His costumed mini-lecture series entitled Keys to Bleak House ran on PBS throughout the country. Dr. Engel has lectured throughout the nation, Europe, and Japan.
