Bill Schustik
American Troubadour

Bill Schustik travels the highways and byways of the United States entertaining audiences with his rich baritone voice, guitar, banjo, harmonica, jew’s harp and bones, to weave an enchanting fabric of recollection, folklore and song to touch the heart of an American hero – Abraham Lincoln – and you!

Born in Lewiston, NY, Schustik launched his unusual career at Nantucket’s Straight Wharf Theatre in September of 1967. He recorded the official album for the Tall Ship Festivities, “Storm-
along.” Other credits include a special performance at the White House before President Nixon and Indira Ghandi, the Broadway production of Billy, a performance with Andrew Kostelanetz at Lincoln Center, the PBS-TV four part musical documentary, Paths to Rebellion, a starring role in Canada’s King 5 Television docudrama Songs for Louisa, and a performance of some of his Civil War repertoire for the NBC-televised Ford Theatre Tenth Anniversary Gala, attended by President Carter.

When not performing, this renaissance man relaxes by building ship models, and rendering whimsical pen and ink drawings. Each summer he fulfills his role as “America’s only living Chanteyman” aboard the only existing topsail schooner of its kind in the United States, the 158 foot Shenandoah, which sails out of Vineyard Haven.

This program took place on March 10, 2010.
